Arun Vishwanathan is currently working as an Associate Fellow with the Indian Pugwash Society, New Delhi. He is a Doctoral candidate at the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. At the Society he has worked in the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) supported Research Project "India in a Changing Global Nuclear Order." Currently he is working on a project titled "Recent Initiatives in the Global Nuclear Arena: Implications for India."

Arun has presented papers and participated in several international conferences and workshops. Important among them being the "RCSS Summer Workshop on Defence, Technology and Cooperative Security," held in Lahore in 2005; the fourth annual "LSE-GWU-UCSB International Graduate Conference on the Cold War," held at the London School of Economics and Political Science in April 2006 and the CSCAP "Study Group on Countering the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction in the Asia Pacific" and the Young Leaders Meeting in February 2007 in San Francisco.

Currently Arun is writing chapters for several book-length publications. He is contributing a chapter on the Israeli Nuclear Programme for the IDSA-Indian Pugwash Society joint publication "Asian Nuclear Dynamics." He is also writing a chapter on IAEA Safeguards and the Indo-US Nuclear Deal for the IDSA book-length publication on the Indo-US nuclear deal. Arun is also contributing two chapters on the Nuclear Suppliers Group and Criminalisation of Proliferation for the Indian Pugwash Society's book titled "India in a Changing Global Nuclear Order."
